Question

Does deal scoring work if your reps do not log anything.

Most CRM activity is not manually logged. HubSpot and Salesforce both sync email and calendar automatically once connected, so meetings, threads and reply timing arrive without anybody typing. What reps do enter by hand is mostly stage and close date, which are the fields a good score depends on least.

The objection, stated fairly.

A score built on CRM data is only as good as the CRM data. If reps do not log their emails and meetings, the score is reading an incomplete picture and the output will be confidently wrong.

That is a real risk and it is worth checking rather than assuming, in either direction.

What arrives without anybody typing.

Both major CRMs sync email and calendar automatically once a rep connects their mailbox. Threads, meeting attendance, who was on it and when, and reply timing all land without manual entry.

Contacts associated with a deal accumulate the same way, because replying to a thread creates the association.

Deal value, stage and close date are typed by a person. Those are the three fields most likely to be wrong, and a behavioral score depends on them least.

Count open deals with at least one logged activity in the last thirty days, as a share of all open deals. If it is high, the objection does not apply to you.

Then count how many of your reps have mailbox sync enabled. That single setting is usually the difference between an empty CRM and a full one, and it is a configuration problem rather than a behavior problem.

What a score should do when activity is thin.

Say so, rather than pretending. A deal with no activity at all is not a deal scoring zero, it is a deal nobody can assess, and those are different statements.

Kaypo marks what it could not read rather than scoring it confidently. And its back test only scores closed deals for the days it actually holds activity on, which keeps a thin history from producing a flattering curve that means nothing.

Questions

Do reps have to log activity for deal scoring to work?

Mostly not. HubSpot and Salesforce both sync email and calendar automatically once a mailbox is connected, so threads, meetings and reply timing arrive without manual entry. Stage and close date are typed, and a behavioral score depends on those least.

How do I check whether my CRM activity is complete?

Count open deals with at least one logged activity in the last thirty days as a share of all open deals, then check how many reps have mailbox sync enabled. The second usually explains the first.

What happens if a deal has no activity data?

A good score says it cannot assess the deal rather than scoring it low. A deal nobody can read and a deal going badly are different situations and should not look the same.
